Bill

Originally I had some bare facts in this space. A great place to expound and pontificate but I will keep it to a few facts to let folks know a little about me and where I come from.

I live in Connecticut with my wife, Tina. Our children are Emma, currently teaching in Viet Nam and Jim, a student at Penn State.

My greatest accomplishments are finding my wife and raising two great kids. The credit for anything positive in my marriage and family are due to Tina. I know that this sounds trite and thinly veiled sweet talk to gain favor with Tina. However, being a couple years into retirement gives one perspective. Looking back there is really nothing worthwhile to see. Accomplishments, jobs, awards, degrees and the like are pale images on the horizon.

Besides, maybe I can gain favor with Tina.

There are things in the background that are worth mentioning:

  • Born in rural Washington State
  • Migrated to California and Texas before High School
  • My high School, The New Mexico Military Institute
  • My undergraduate university, The University of Washington
  • My graduate school, The University of Pittsburgh
  • My military service: I was commissioned in the Air Force and served as a research project officer at the Air Force Weapons Lab. There I received a military commendation medal and a Scientific Achievement Award
  • Post service work at Westinghouse Electric as a nuclear service tooling designer. I have a patent on a design.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Value time at the Chautauqua Institution in New York. I am a graduate of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle and the Guild of the Seven Seals
  • I am a Christian in the reform tradition and ordained a deacon in the Presbyterian Church. I keep reading Calvin and am yet to find a position to disagree.
Today My Hair is Shorter, Tina’s Straighter, Emma’s Lighter and Jim’s Longer
