Day 14 Atapuerca

I can’t believe that we are into our second week. And, that we are still going. We will be entering Burgos tomorrow, Just found out that they are having a festival when we are there. This one translates to “El Cid Week”. Lots of medieval stuff.  I hope they won’t be reveling through the night – I would like to get some sleep.

Leaving Balorado the views were pretty much the same as yesterday plus, since this is a long day we got a ride for the first few miles
Chapel at the Monastery in San Juan Ortega,  churches are beginning
I think these gals have the right idea, sit in the shade and chew your cud
Coming out of the forest we encountered another great vista
Entering the village of Agé

In Agé we again encountered our friends from Florida. They seem to be having a great Camino. We also happened upon the Dutch gal who had her towel stolen from the Monastery where she was staying. As I travel the Camino I realize that it is a moving community. We encountered the same individuals time and again.

A Romanesque Bridge whose construction is attributed to Saint John of Ortega
More sunflowers
Atapuerca is a prehistoric site. Evidence of human existence dates back over one million years. About the time that our lodging was furnished

Our lodging is more like a true Albergue, there is a common lavatory and shower, no separate men’s and women’s. There are separate cubicles with doors and locks. It is, however, new to us.

Patio at our lodging
We had a community dinner at our lodging. Vegetable soup, gnocchi with pesto, chicken with a herb and vegetable sauce, chocolate mousse with whipped cream and berries and wine and bread. Needless to say, we didn’t leave hungry

At dinner were people from Germany, France, Taiwan and USA. Maybe other places but I didn’t talk to everyone.
